"You can tell yourself that you have already decided, that nothing now can stop you, but if that step backwards is so much safer than step forwards, what will hold you true to your path when the going gets tough? Sometimes, the right thing to do is to take that first irreversible step, the one after which you cannot go back. And now, for you, is one of those times." That is from a facebook app called, What God Wants You to Know. I check it every once in a while, just to see if what it says applies to my life. Today's was exactly and perfectly alligned with how I feel and the position that I am in my life right now.
I just too a huge irreversible step in the right direction: Boarding School. I moved out of my house yesterday and I moved into a dorm. This year, I will be studying photography and developing my artistic vision. It's nice to be out of my normal groove and in a position where I have to try new things and truly grow as an artist and as a person.
I will still be (to the best of my ability) keeping up with my business while I am away. I won't be shooting as many sessions just because my time is so limited and because I can only leave school on Sundays. I have taken on 5 weddings for during the school and not really sure I will take on more. One of the weddings that I booked about 6 months ago (before I knew I would be moving away to school) is on the same day as SATS, which is going to be a little nuts because there's one hour between SATS and wedding time.
I am ready to step out of my comfort zone and live up to my potential. Here is a look into my new life, so far:
Favorite part of my room: this awesome rug. Isn't it cool?! Second favorite part of my room: wood hangers. To me, there is nothing more legit than people who use wood hangers. Get it?! I use wood hangers now = therefor I must be legit. Am I right?
Have to have my bible. The cover is just a reminder :)
I'll try and post regularly when I have pictures to show. I miss my family and friends already but I am ready for this season in my life. I am so excited because I got put into the smallest girls dorm on campus... there are two dorms with 80-90 girls and I am in one tiny dorm with 9 other girls and they are all swell. We're pretty much a family already.
Three words: God is Good.
